Fishing in the Catskills

There is no shortage of places to go fishing in the Catskills! Cast your rod in the Beaverkill or Willowemoc rivers, the east or west branches of the Delaware, and numerous creeks and streams, including the Callicoon, Mongaup, and Neversink. Springtime is the best time for trout fishing, as the cold waters warm up and hungry trout are out looking for food, ready to snap at your lure.

Here are some great places to buy the supplies you need for your fishing trip:

Trout Town Flies – Located in Roscoe, Trout Town Flies provides the gear and supplies you need for a great day on the water, including hand tied flies and rods from top brands like Echo, Sage, and Galvin. Use their rentals if you forgot your rod or are fishing with someone who doesn’t have one!

Dette Flies – Dette Flies sells rods, reels, lines, waders, and other types of gear, provides daily reports for the top fishing places in the area, and offers guided fishing trips to the hundreds of miles of fishable streams and rivers around Upper Delaware.

If you want a break from the stream or river for a few hours, head over to the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum. It features nature trails and exhibits that showcase the history of this classic Catskills pastime.
