WHERE TO STAY
Nine River Road
Nine River Road will offer “The Lift” package for the weekend of August 11th – 13th. The 8-room riverside retreat boasts direct access to the Delaware River, the perfect location to practice your famous Dirty Dancing “lift” before giving it a go on the dance floor. The package also includes two tickets to a showing of Dirty Dancing at the Callicoon Theater, located just down the street, as well as daily breakfast and nightly accommodations. Package starts at $169/night.
Villa Roma Resort
Villa Roma Resort has a “Time of Your Life” package, which includes two nights’ accommodations, daily breakfast and dinner, a live performance on Saturday night with songs from “Dirty Dancing,” an open-bar cocktail party on Saturday evening and activities such as go-cart racing and bumper boat rides. Also, former dancer Jackie Horner, who consulted on the movie, will give a lecture on Saturday afternoon about her time on-set. Rates from $956 for two people, inclusive of tax and gratuities. WHAT TO DO
Cabernet Frank’s
Cabernet Frank’s, a restaurant, bar and live music venue in Sullivan Catskills, will host a “Night in the Borscht Belt” on August 12th, to celebrate the area’s heyday as the home of the Dirty Dancing-era. Guests will enjoy a full borscht-belt themed menu, live music featuring hits that Baby would love to dance to, cabaret, stand-up comics and more. $25 per person.
Callicoon Theater
One of Sullivan Catskills’ only movie theaters, Callicoon Theater, will host a one-time screening of Dirty Dancing Saturday, August 12th at 2pm. Celebrity special guest Jackie Horner, who literally “wrote the book” that was adapted for the screenplay, will speak and entertain questions following the movie. Admission prices for this performance also have been rolled back 30 years, to $3 for adults, $1.50 for children, which were the actual admission prices at the Callicoon Theater in 1987.
Forestburgh Playhouse
Continuing its tradition of providing premier entertainment in the Sullivan Catskills, The Forestburgh Playhouse is thrilled to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Dirty Dancing, by presenting its late-night cabaret – “Time of My Life!” The show will feature timeless shows from the movie, and perform August 11th and 12th after the Playhouse main stage performance of Bye Bye Birdie. Doors open at 10:30pm, $17 minimum per person. Time of My Life runs August 1-12th (Tuesdays through Thursdays at 6pm for a dinner cabaret and Fridays and Saturdays for the late night cabaret).
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts
Moonlit Movie Mondays at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts brings cult classics to the big screen under the stars on the outdoor Terrace Stage. On Monday, August 14th, Moonlit Mondays will show Dirty Dancing, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the celebrated film. The movie will be shown at 8:30pm and is $8 for adults, $6 for members, and $5 for those 18 and under. Half price museum tickets will be available before the film for any audience members, lawn games will be available as well as other fun additions and activities.
Oscar Brown’s
Oscar Brown’s, a local tavern, will be hosting a 1960’s resort inspired family-style dinner for groups looking to relive the Dirty Dancing days. The menu includes dishes such as roast chicken, pot roast, boiled red potatoes, green beans and rice pudding. Also, the Mickey Barnett Band, who played frequently in the Catskills resorts in the 1960’s will perform, and yard games including badminton and croquet will be set-up outside for diners to play.
