Smart Hiking Tips
We are so excited that you will join us for this two day adventure — and a little preparation goes a long way to keeping it fun, safe, and unforgettable. Here’s how to hit the trails with confidence:
1.
Dress Smart, Stay Comfortable
Comfort is key! Opt for flexible, breathable clothing and remember to layer up. Layers are a hiker’s secret weapon—warm when you need them, easy to shed when the trail heats up.
2.
Step Up with the Right Shoes
Sneakers? Not this time. A sturdy pair of hiking boots or trail shoes with excellent grip will keep you steady and safe, even on uneven terrain.
3.
Stay on the Path
Adventure is exciting, but wandering off the trail can quickly go wrong. Keep to the marked paths and stick with your group to ensure a safe and smooth hike.
4.
Hydration is Non-negotiable
Always bring water—hydration is your best friend on the trail. Even if there are refreshment stops along the way, carrying your own water ensures you’re ready to power through.
5.
Be Rain-Ready
The weather can change on a dime, so pack a lightweight poncho or a rain jacket. Being ready for a surprise sprinkle will keep you dry and make rainy trails less daunting.
6.
Don’t Forget the Sunscreen
Hiking under open skies? Protect your skin. Apply sunscreen generously—even if it’s cloudy. Trust us, sunburn isn’t the kind of souvenir you want.
7.
Keep Critters Away
Always bring water—hydration is your best friend on the trail. Even if there are refreshment stops along the way, carrying your own water ensures you’re ready to power through.
8.
Bring a Backpack
Don’t hike empty-handed. A good backpack is essential to carry all your necessities—water, snacks, extra layers, and anything else you might need.
9.
Snack Smart and Leave No Trace
Pack easy-to-eat snacks like trail mix, nuts, or protein bars to fuel your adventure. Remember the golden rule—if you carry it in, carry it out. Keep the trails as pristine as you found them.
Bonus Tip: Plan Ahead and Share Your Plans
Do your homework before heading out — check the route, weather conditions, and any potential challenges. And always tell someone your plans. If the unexpected happens, they’ll know how to help.
Now you’re all set to hit the trails, soak up stunning views, and make amazing memories. Lace up, pack smart, and happy hiking!
