UPPER DELAWARE RIVER VALLEY — CBS National Environmental Correspondent, David Schechter, touched down in Narrowsburg after finishing day one of filming for an upcoming documentary that explores the Delaware River.

A four-person CBS team, Photographers Justin Sherman and Chance Horner, Producer Laura Geller, and National Environmental Correspondent Schecter, spent the day on the river, fitted with waders, with guide Brian Shepherd in Roscoe, NY.

The documentary will be an hour long and will explore the entire river. Schechter told the River Reporter he learned from Shepherd about how the temperature of the river is warming and how there is a scarcity of fish.

With four more days of filming along the river, the team will focus on various aspects of preservation. The documentary will be broken out into parts to air as shorter segments on the CBS broadcast.

Schecter said there has been a lot of discussion about how river preservation projects are difficult to tackle. The nature of the river necessitates multi-state and institutional cooperation.

The team had spoken with Friends of the Upper Delaware River for the film and said they were hoping to speak with the Upper Delaware Council (UDC) to include them in the documentary.
