The Outrage: A Queer Writers' Residency - Reading & Reception

  • Jun 07
  • 7:30pm

NACL is pleased to welcome back for the second year The Outrage: A Queer Writers’ Residency. Created by playwright and performer C. Julian Jimenez, resident of Yulan, NY and Professor of Theatre at Queensborough Community College, The Outrage brings together 8 talented writers for a week-long residency at NACL. This year’s participants include C. Julian Jimenez, Hansol Jung, Jeffrey James Keyes, CQ Quintana, Marcus Scott, Aurin Squire, Kathleen Warnock, and Gein Wong.

The Outrage was born out of a need to create space for Queer writers to just be—to write, share, and grow without having to justify or explain their Queerness. It’s not just a residency—it’s a haven. A space where bold ideas are celebrated, where feedback is rooted in care, and where writers are free to take risks. That’s when the real alchemy happens—when they’re given the room to dream wildly and write freely.

Saturday, June 7th, at 7:30pm the writers will share excerpts from their work in development. Audiences are invited to stay after the presentation for delicious soup and conversation!
