2019 Maple Weekends in the Sullivan Catskills

On March 23rd & 24th and March 30th & 31st, our New York maple producers will open their doors for all… Whether you come with the kids or have a romantic getaway weekend, there’s plenty of places to stay. Make a reservation, pack your bags – it’s a classic Catskills experience you don’t want to miss!

Maple Weekends in the Sullivan Catskills

Frost Valley YMCA

Pack up the kids and head to Frost Valley YMCA where you’ll learn all about their maple sugaring operation while enjoying all of their on-site activities like archery, cross-country skiing, snow tubing and more. Day and weekend guests will learn how to identify maple trees and understand the process of how sap becomes maple…

Details: March 23rd & 24th, March 30th & 31st – 10am-4pm. Syrup will be available to purchase at the sugarhouse by cash or check only. Maple Weekends are open to the public.

Catskill Mountain Sugar House

At Catskill Mountain Sugar House, an 800-acre NOFA-NY certified organic farm, you can have a tour and a taste! Learn about their sugarbush operation and why they never tap roadside trees.

Details: March 24th – 1:30-3pm – Maple Sugar Tour and Sugarbush Walk. Tour the facility then head into the woods for a short hike or snowshoe (depending on conditions) with Lisa Lyons of Morgan Outdoors. Reservations must be made by March 24th – call Lisa at (845) 439-5507 or email Ask about snowshoe rentals too.

On March 30th & 31st – 10am-4pm – Catskill Mountain Sugar House will be actively boiling and giving tours. Maple will be available for sale both weekends.

The address of Catskill Mountain Sugar House is 10 Sugarhouse Lane Grahamsville. Sugarhouse Lane is a private road and almost never shows up on GPS. Visitors should enter 227 Glade Hill Road into GPS to get close. CMSH is the next farm above the Furman Farm which is intersected by Glade Hill Road.

Justus Asthalter Maple Syrup

Visit Justus Asthalter Maple Syrup, a fourth generation maple farm dating back to 1937. Guests will learn how maple syrup is made while enjoying samples and demos on making maple cream and candy – beyond delicious.

Details: March 23rd & 24th, March 30th & 31st – 10am-3pm. Maple Cream Demos: Saturdays, March 23rd and 30th at 12:30pm. Maple Candy Demos: Sundays, March 24th and 31st at 12:30pm. Lots of maple and maple products for sale.

Winterton Farms

Get to know the folks at Winterton Farms in Bloomingburg. They’ll take you on a tour, give you a taste and chat all things maple…

Details: March 24th – 11am-4pm. Syrup will be available for purchase.

No matter which maple producer you explore, remember to bring home a bottle or two for Maple Glazed Cider DonutsParsnip Cake with Maple Pecan Buttercream and Maple Marshmallows.

Travel Tip: If you miss Maple Weekend, mark your calendar for April 27th – Jeffersonville will host their Maple Syrup Festival and 5K Sap Run. Get to know the local maple producers, watch a tree tapping and maple candy demo, feast on specialty foods, maple cotton candy, and pancakes in the park. Plus, there’s live music, activities for the kids, unique vendors and more. And, if your competitive side is up for the challenge, you can take part in the pancake eating contest – yum!
