Travel in (Sustainable) Style in the Sullivan Catskills

If your favorite ride is electrified, you’ll find a growing network of charging stations (EVSE) available around the Sullivan County Catskills.

The auto tour is a time-honored way to enjoy miles of local scenery, spectacular river views, quaint Main Streets and so much more! In fact, the advent of the automobile ushered in the Golden Age of Sullivan County tourism, the period of the great resort hotels and classic Catskills entertainment that began around 1940. Today, touring by car is still the best way to discover quaint hamlets, follow the artisanal beverage trail, visit maple producers and farmers’ markets, go autumn leaf peeping, take a farm tour or attend one of the many seasonal festivals celebrating the remarkable art, food, history and architecture of the Sullivan Catskills.

The number of electric and electric hybrid vehicles on the road in New York State has grown exponentially since 2011, with more than 29,000 vehicles registered. Drivers love the fuel economy and quiet ride, as well as the genuine environmental benefits of fossil-free travel.

That’s why the Sullivan County Office of Sustainable Energy wants to make it as easy as possible for plug-in electric vehicle drivers to recharge and get on with the fun. If you drive an electric plug-in or hybrid vehicle, you can visit with confidence knowing that publicly accessible charging stations are available across the County. In addition to the facilities listed below, many Sullivan Catskills lodgings and other businesses provide EV charging facilities for their patrons.

It’s all part of the Sullivan Catskills ongoing efforts to preserve our beautiful clean air and water – cherished by residents and visitors alike – and to encourage environmentally beneficial technologies and practices.  New York State has designated Sullivan County as a Clean Energy Community and a Bronze-Certified Climate Smart Community in recognition of their many successful actions to improve energy efficiency and transition to renewable energy for county operations and throughout the community.

Find a New York State charging station or check out Plug-In America’s interactive map. The network is growing, so check the maps often.
