SCVA Launches New Inclusive Membership Model to Empower and Celebrate Local Businesses

A brand new inclusive membership model is on the horizon for the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association. A transformative update to our membership framework, this change emphasizes a broader commitment to inclusivity, equity, and regional growth. As part of this initiative, SCVA will transition away from its traditional paid membership structure, introducing a new inclusive membership model for all businesses located within the Sullivan Catskills.

This evolution in membership policy aligns with SCVA’s mission to drive tourism-based economic development while fostering a more collaborative and representative regional business environment. Upon the conclusion of their current membership term, participating businesses will need to register under the new complimentary model—ensuring uninterrupted access to core marketing benefits such as inclusion in the Sullivan Catskills Travel Guide, a basic listing on the official SCVA website and access to core tourism marketing opportunities

With dedicated public funding in place, eliminating membership fees removes financial barriers, expands participation, and allows us to better fulfill our role as stewards of regional growth. Our priority is to champion the entire Sullivan Catskills—not just those who have the means to pay.

Advancing Opportunity Through Access

Whether a business is part of the region’s vibrant arts scene, an established hospitality provider, or a new farm-to-table eatery, this inclusive approach ensures equal access to high-visibility destination marketing efforts. By opening access to SCVA’s robust marketing and promotional platforms, the organization is working to ensure that every business has the opportunity to contribute to and benefit from the Sullivan Catskills brand.

In parallel with this shift, SCVA is actively developing supporter tiers and collaborative partnership opportunities. These optional enhancements will provide businesses with additional avenues for exposure and deeper integration into SCVA-led marketing initiatives.

Data-Driven Support for Smarter Decision-Making

To further strengthen its value to members, SCVA is partnering with industry leaders such as Key Data Dashboard and Datafy to develop a suite of tourism intelligence tools. These offerings—available for a modest monthly fee—are not intended to generate profit, but rather to empower businesses with meaningful, real-time insights into visitor behavior, market trends, and competitive performance to make smarter, more informed decisions.

Looking Ahead

The introduction of a free membership model represents a significant step forward in how SCVA supports the Sullivan Catskills’ business community. By eliminating financial barriers, enhancing access to data, and creating new engagement pathways, the organization is deepening its commitment to a more unified and resilient regional economy.

This is more than a membership shift—it’s an invitation to every local business to be part of a shared vision that celebrates the Sullivan Catskills’ identity, resilience, and future as a leading tourism destination. SCVA will continue to share updates as the transition progresses, and encourages all eligible businesses to take advantage of this new opportunity to engage, collaborate, and grow together.
