February 28 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
$75
A promotional flyer for a Nymph Fly Tying Class at Dette Flies, featuring various materials and the date 2/28/26.

Learn the fundamentals of tying effective nymph patterns that consistently catch fish. This hands-on class is designed for anglers of all skill levels and focuses on the techniques, materials, and proportions used to create durable, realistic nymphs for trout and other freshwater species.

During the class, participants will tie a selection of proven nymph patterns, including the Hare’s EarZug BugFrenchie, and March Brown Nymph. Each pattern introduces essential skills such as thread control, wire ribbing, dubbing techniques, bead placement, and building balanced, fishable profiles.

In addition to tying, we’ll discuss material selection, pattern variations, and when and how to fish each nymph effectively. All tools and materials are provided (or feel free to bring your own), and class size is kept small to ensure plenty of individual instruction.

You’ll learn:

  • Core nymph tying techniques and proper proportions

  • How to work with beads, wire, dubbing, and natural materials

  • Tips for improving fly durability and consistency

  • When and where to fish the nymphs you tie

Ideal for beginners building a strong foundation and experienced tiers looking to refine their skills and add reliable patterns to their fly box

  • Materials and tools provided to students or they can bring their own
  • Classes are meant to be stand alone but can be taken as a series
  • Classes limited to six people

Each student will receive $25 back in in-store credit after completing the course.
