Celebrate Fall Fun in the Sullivan Catskills

Hop in your car and head for the Catskill mountains… It’s leaf peeping season, and there’s no better time to enjoy fall in the Sullivan Catskills. With the most scenic views around, cruise down the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway on your way to Barryville, Narrowsburg, and Callicoon – all of which have fantastic lodging, dining, and hiking options – to take in unparalleled views of fall foliage. Peak season begins in mid-September, and leaves can be seen changing throughout the county up towards the Delaware River into the later part of October.

Haunted Halloween Travel

A region rich in history, the Sullivan Catskills offers travelers unique and festive Halloween experiences for all ages and interests.

Burn Brae Mansion

For travelers interested in a spooky adventure, look no further than the haunted tours at the historic Burn Brae Mansion. Every third Saturday of the month, the mansion opens its doors to guests, who armed with ghost-hunting equipment, can chase the rumored spirits throughout the notoriously phantasm-filled mansion. The night culminates with dinner on-site.

Cunningham Family Farm

A seasonal favorite, Cunningham Family Farm offers iconic fall festivities – exploring the corn maze, pumpkin picking, hayrides and annual festivals including Oktoberfest.

Sleepy Hollow Weekend at The DeBruce

The DeBruce, in its inaugural fall season, will offer a Sleepy Hollow Weekend from October 27 – October 29. Based on the short story, the weekend includes a Sleepy Hollow-themed haunted dinner, a reading of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and more. Rates start at $499/night.

The Sullivan Catskills is home to a wide range of festivals taking place throughout the fall. From the Narrowsburg Honeybee Festival to the annual Oktoberfest at Roscoe Beer Company, there’s something for every type of traveler.

The Taste of Fall

Home to the freshest produce and an extraordinary number of farm-to-table style restaurants, the Sullivan Catskills is well-known for its culinary options. For delicious fall ingredients check out some of the area’s best farmers’ markets… Please note, all Markets are open rain or shine.

Barryville Farmers’ Market: Saturdays, 10am – 1pm, through October 28th.

Callicoon Farmers’ Market: Sundays, 11am-2pm, through November 5th. Thereafter, the Market moves indoors to the Delaware Youth Center.

Liberty Farmers’ Market: Fridays, 3-6pm, through September 29th.

Narrowsburg Farmers’ Market: Fridays, 5-8pm, through October 6th.

Rock Hill Farmers’ Market: Saturdays, 10am-1pm, through September 30th.

Roscoe Farmers’ Market: Sundays, 10am-2pm, through October 8th.

Travelers can also enjoy dining at an array of restaurants such as Matthew’s on Main and The Western in Callicoon, Local Table and Tap and Barrio Kitchen in Kauneonga Lake, Piccolo Paese in Liberty, Pickled Owl in Hurleyville, The Arnold House, Main Street Farm and The Kaatskeller in Livingston Manor, Northern Farmhouse Pasta in Roscoe, The Heron in Narrowsburg and The Restaurant & Bar Room at The North Branch Inn, among others.

Interested in getting a taste of the region’s best craft beer and spirits? Visit Roscoe Beer Company – recently voted the number one craft brewery in New York, or Catskill Brewery in Livingston Manor. The region is also home to distilleries including Catskill Distilling Company in Bethel and Prohibition Distillery in Roscoe. Prohibition recently opened an outdoor patio perfect for enjoying a cocktail or small bite after touring the distillery.

The Sullivan Catskills provides a variety of ways for travelers to experience and take-in all that the great outdoors have to offer, from the county’s many rivers to its endless hiking trails.

Enjoy the Delaware with Lander’s River Trips

Lander’s, a fixture on the Delaware River, providing kayaking, canoeing, rafting, and tubing services to travelers and locals alike since 1955. Lander’s has multiple launch points along the Delaware, allowing guests to choose the location most convenient for them to start the journey. Open weather permitting through October 9th.

Hiking with Morgan Outdoors

Nestled in the Catskill Mountains, the Sullivan Catskills is known for its incredible hiking opportunities. From September through October hiking is a great way to experience the region’s beautiful fall foliage first hand. Stop by Morgan Outdoors in Livingston Manor to receive tips on where to hit the trails and stock up on hiking gear.

Ziplining, Paintballing and more with Kittatinny

Thrill seeker? Get a rush zipping down a 3,000′ dual racing zipline. There’s no better way to see and experience the Sullivan Catskills. Kittatinny also offers competitive travelers the option to challenge friends and family to a game of paintball on their course.

Stay the Night

There are many accommodations suited for a trip to the Sullivan Catskills. Inns like ECCE Bed & Breakfast and the Clair Inn & Cafe provide a more intimate experience, vacation rental company Red Cottage Inc. offers a wide range of homes for traveling groups and families, and hotels such as Catskill Mountains Resort and Villa Roma Resort are ideal for a resort-style, family experience.
