Spring in the Sullivan Catskills means one thing: Trout Season. Anglers from all over flock to our pristine rivers, lively towns, and legendary fishing spots to celebrate this cherished tradition. With Opening Day on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, the Sullivan Catskills are rolling out an incredible lineup of events, that continue into the weekend from casting lessons to culinary celebrations, music, and more.

Opening Day Events – Tuesday, April 1st
Coffee, Breakfast & the Best Fishing Spots
7am at Junction Pool in Roscoe
Kick off your morning with The Catskill Fly Fishing Center & sponsors Butternut Grove Campsite & Roscoe Campsite Park for the annual First Cast & complimentary coffee and a light breakfast for all!
Weekend Celebrations- Saturday, April 5th
Catskill Brewery’s Opening Weekend Celebration
11am to 6pm at Catskill Brewery in Livingston Mano
After a morning on the river, head to Catskill Brewery for an afternoon of festivities:
- Casting Lessons with Theodore Gordon Flyfishers
- Fly Tying Lessons from the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild
- Live Music by Michael Francis McCarthy
- No experience necessary – all skill levels welcome!
The Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum Festivites
From 10am-4pm they will be providing an array of festivites including..
- A day of food and celebration at the Center with Agnes Van Put’s soup & goodies . Crafts for kids & free Museum admission for all!
9am-12pm Meet Your Maker: The Mike Canazon Catskill Cane Revival is a chance to practice casting bamboo and all ages are welcome. Located at Roscoe Central School gymnasium . Bring a rod or try one of theirs!
10am-4pm Free admission at CFFCM with guest fly tyers Tom Mason, John Apgar & Phil Street
They are also partnering with the Livingston Manor Chamber of Commerce for the Trout About Town Treasure Hunt. Just like a treasure hunt, they will be hiding 16 trout inspired boxes across town. Each box will be filled with “trout bucks” that are redeemable at participating Livingston Manor businesses.
Upward Brewery Fishin’ Buddy Annual Release Day
11am to 6pm at Upward Brewing in Livingston Manor
Enjoy a fun day at Upward celebrating Fly Fishing Season & the release of their easy drinking fishing beer, Fishin’ Buddy! As always, Upward Kitchen is open & cider, wine and spirits are available for non beer drinkers.
Dette Flies Season Opener Celebration
8am to close at Dette Flies in Livingston Manor

Two Headed Trout Dinner
6pm at The Rockland House in Roscoe, NY
