NYS Burn Ban is in Effect Through May 14

March 23, 2026 |

If you’re planning a trip to the Catskills this spring, here’s something to keep in mind: New York State’s annual burn ban is in effect now through May 14.

Small campfires and cooking fires are still allowed – just make sure you’re burning clean, untreated wood or charcoal. What’s not permitted during the ban is burning brush, sticks, leaves, or any yard debris.

Please be extra careful out there and help us keep the Catskills beautiful.
