Revolutionary Women: A Talk by Phyllis (Penny) Coombe

In honor of National Women’s History Month and the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, join speaker Phyllis (Penny) Coombe for a fascinating look at the women behind the American Revolution. Meet the mothers, wives, and daughters of history’s more famous men — women who made their own significant contributions to the war effort. Hear stories of the girl who disguised herself as a man to serve in the army, the wife who took over firing her husband’s cannon, the enslaved woman who became a published poet, and more. Available both in person and virtually. In-person attendees enjoy light refreshments and museum admission. To join virtually, email info@timeandthevalleysmuseum.org with “Revolutionary Women Link” in the subject line. Program sponsorship courtesy of the Helen Coombe and Carol Smythe Memorial Fund.
