Skiing

We have two amazing ski parks here in the Sullivan Catskills. Holiday Mountain Ski and Fun Park is located in Monticello and has seven slopes and trails of varying skill levels, from beginner to expert, as well as tubing. Check their website for hours and rates.

Villa Roma Resort in Callicoon is a winter wonderland for kids and adults with three ski slopes, snow tubing, and a ski chalet. They have midweek and weekend specials for guests as well as special packages. Check out their website for more information.

Snowshoeing

Morgan Outdoors in Livingston Manor offers snowshoe rentals so you can pick them up and head out on the trails. While you’re there grab some cold weather essentials like warm boots, jackets, hats, and gloves. They even have maps for nearby trails so you can be prepared to explore.

Stop by Fortress Bikes in Hurleyville for another snowshoe rental option. If there is at least three inches of snow on the ground, they will be open for snowshoe rentals by reservation only. They have snowshoes available for all sizes and are right next to the O&W Rail Trail so you can walk right out and experience nature.

Ice fishing

Ice fishing is a time-honored tradition here in the Sullivan Catskills. When lakes freeze over, fishing enthusiasts go out to spend a day on the ice. The area’s premier ice fishing contest, King of the Ice, will be held this year on February 20. Follow the Sullivan County Conservation Club for more details.
