Spring is open season in Sullivan County, and the water is calling. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned angler, this guide covers everything you need to know: where to fish, who to call, where to stay & how to get your license.

Open Season: April 1 – October 15, 2026 Catch & Release Season: October 16, 2026 – March 31, 2027

🎣 WHERE TO FISH

The Beaverkill One of the Catskills’ most stocked streams, with brown trout ranging from 9-10″ up to trophy size (12-15″). Best late April to early June. Stocked April 21, May 5, May 19, and June 2. Head to Junction Pool in Roscoe early morning for your best shot.

The Willowemoc Miles of fishable water and easy wading make this one of the best streams for first-timers. Same stocking schedule as the Beaverkill. Best late April through early June.

The Neversink A reservoir and a river, offering some of the best odds in the county. Best April through late May. Reservoir stocked April 7; river stocked April 14, April 28, May 12, and May 26. Shore access near the dam is easy for anyone.

The Delaware One of the most celebrated wild trout rivers in the Northeast. Wild brown and rainbow trout, best late spring & early summer and again in fall. Harvest season runs April 1 – October 15; catch & release only October 16 – March 31 with artificial lures only.
