A new play by local playwright Bill Duncan

HURLEYVILLE, NY – On Saturday and Sunday, August 1 and 2 at 2 p.m., Big Sky Productions, a theatre company based in Grahamsville, will present a dramatic reading of the new play “Closets” at the Sullivan County Museum in Hurleyville. The play is written by Woodbourne playwright Bill Duncan.

Based on a true story, “Closets” introduces a typical working class family struggling to make ends meet in Erie, PA. Life gets more complex, however, as intimate details of their relationships become painfully evident. The pressures among them increases as both parents and children struggle with surprises their upbringings had never prepared them for. Their struggles are real and their strengths as well.

“Closets” is for mature audiences due to language and adult situations.

The play is directed by Big Sky Productions’ Artistic Director Carol Montana and features a cast of nine: Laure Valentine, Ellen Pavloff, David Dann, Albee Bockman, Jason Dole, Paul Ciliberto, Pam LeConey, Lourdesa Hunt and Bob Bliefernich.

Bill Duncan has had plays produced in various venues in upstate NY (Rome, Auburn, Aurora, Goshen, Monticello, Rhinebeck), in NYC and in Pennsylvania. His work has received awards from TANYS (Theatre Association of New York State). His play TRUST was a finalist in a Yale University Drama Competition and won the Gloria Peter Playwright Competition (Aurora).

Carol Montana has a Master’s Degree in Dramatic Form and Structure from the University of Connecticut and has directed over 60 plays for her theatre company Big Sky Productions as well as for other area theatrical companies and venues.

Tickets for “Closets” will be available at the door. Admission is $12 and includes dessert. The Sullivan County Museum is located at 265 Main St. in Hurleyville.
