A cup above the rest in the Sullivan Catskills

Coffee is a conversation in the Catskills. It’s life blended with friendship, joy and a little something sweet to brighten even the foggiest mornings. It’s the fresh grind in a coffee shop that carries you through the afternoon when there’s still one more project left on the to-do list. It’s that “coffee with friends” calendar reminder you always look forward to—then immediately reschedule for next week before saying your goodbyes. It’s cruising through a Sullivan County town in search of a caffeine fix and finding a familiar experience instead.

Coffee with a view at Tusten Cup

For a seven-day café, Tusten Cup in Narrowsburg understands that community happens over coffee—and sometimes a cake pop. Everything is made fresh to order, breakfast is served anytime and every signature sandwich or wrap can be enjoyed on the deck overlooking the Upper Delaware or from the midway point of your hike.

“It’s the perfect little coffee/breakfast spot with an incredible view and wonderful vibe,” says Brendan on Google, who BTW went with The Beehive, a sesame bagel served with onion and chive cream cheese, bacon and hot honey.

Buzzed on bold flavor in Narrowsburg

There’s another fabulous caffeine supply stop in Narrowsburg with a totally different buzz. What began as a beekeeping hobby for owners Charles and Martin quickly morphed into a flavor-first passion project that blended both.

As they say, “We roast to slay every day, every time, because life’s too short for meh.”

Fresh-roasted coffees, handcrafted small batch teas, infused honey and a consistency that honors farmers and community. You’ll find it all here, with a lot of color.

Small shop, big flavor in Wurtsboro

When you’re in Wurtsboro or even just nearby, Coffee Way Café is a must-stop or at least a very worthwhile detour. You’ll find all the classic coffee and tea favorites, but it’s the baked goods that steal the show. Think fresh, flaky croissants every morning, decadent scones, sticky cinnamon buns and breakfast sammies…oh, the breakfast sammies.

“I came in yesterday with my sister for coffee, and we were shocked by how amazing it was, says Beck. “Especially for such a small shop, the flavor options were extensive and super creative. The Dubai Chocolate Latte was absolutely fantastic.”

From garage to gathering place in Roscoe

Jessica and Jeannine England did something quintessentially Catskills when they looked at an old NAPA Auto Parts building on the banks of the historic Willowemoc Creek in Roscoe and thought, “That would make a great coffee shop.”

They were right. You’ll be thankful for their vision when you stop into the Catskills Coffee Lodge to enjoy the full espresso bar, gourmet teas and a breakfast and lunch menu stuffed with delicious sandwiches, wraps, specials and seasonal soups.

Catskills coffee and tea shops like these are more than places to grab a cup; they’re the region’s heartbeat. They embody the spirit of each community, serving up the right mix of bitter and sweet with plenty of small-town charm. Search them on Yelp or Google, and you’ll find the owner or barista mentioned by name in more than one review. After all, how else could they invite you back without getting to know you first?
